Another General speaks out for gun control

This from a black man, General Colin Luther Powell, who remembers when the NRA tried to promote gun control to prevent black people from owning guns in Jim Crow states. This statement was made on the occasion of the celebration of both Martin Luther King day and the 2nd Inauguration of President Obama, on MSNBC.

That is what makes the following all the more significant.  The civil rights movement rejected violence, they rejected meeting white conservative violence with equal force, and Martin Luther King specifically rejected guns.  Apparently the pro-gun nuts like Rush Limbaugh don't get that, when they argue that African Americans involved in civil rights protests should have had a gun instead of marching or being passively beaten in civil disobedience.  But that is not surprising, given the level of ignorance and lack of education that is not just accepted, but is promoted on the right. It goes well with their level of violence tolerance.
