Supplemental to the PSA in Defense of Women's Lives, and Against the Wrong-on-the-Right Extremists in Congress

The previous PSA contained a petition to be presented to Congress, as a whole.  I promised that if the opportunity came for links to individual members of Congress, to facilitate expressing your views to your own individual congressman or congresswoman, I would present it here.  Tell your Representative in Congress to stop waging culture wars, to stop over reaching any mandate they incorrectly believe they have to intrude and meddle in the lives of individual citizens. Tell them to get to the real business of Congress serving the people of this country, not the wealthy few, not the extreme fringe, and not corporations.  Every individual contact like this is a reminder of who elected them - and who cannot vote.

Do it by using the link embedded in the following message from the Center for Reproductive Rights.  You may or may not support any other positions of this organization, but using the link specifically addresses ONLY the issue of abortions to save the life of the mother, something  on which we can widely share a consensus.

NO human being in this country should have to face seeking medical care for a health problem where they could lose their life, only to be denied that care because of the unscientific, religious beliefs of a health care provider or institution being forced on them, or judging their morals.  We have medical ethics committees in every hospital in this country which competently and knowledgeably addresses these issues - and they don't do it like this legislation.

This week, two vicious attacks on women’s rights receive hearings on Capitol Hill.
Members of the Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing on the deceptive, “No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act” tomorrow (aka, the Smith Bill). On Wednesday, the Energy and Commerce Committee will have a hearing on the so-called “Protect Life Act” (aka, the Pitts Bill).
Anti-choice leaders in the House are fast-tracking these bills, and the first votes could come very soon. Will you take a stand against these attacks?
TAKE ACTION: Tell your representatives that politicians have no business coming between a woman and her private medical decisions!
The Smith bill would permanently deny abortion coverage for low-income women, federal employees, and military women AND effectively prevent private employers from covering this essential service.
The Pitts bill bars insurance plans in the new healthcare system from providing abortion coverage to anyone who receives aid from the government and allows virtually any healthcare entity to refuse to provide, cover, pay for, or even refer patients for abortions. Even more outrageous is new language allowing hospitals to impose their religious beliefs and refuse to provide emergency abortion care EVEN when necessary to save a woman's life.
It’s vitally important that supporters of women’s rights come out strong against these bills. Your representatives need to hear from you because your voice has real power.
Fight back against attacks to women’s rights NOW—Tell your Members of Congress to vote “NO” on the Smith and Pitts bills!
Let there be no confusion about these bills. Their main target is women, and their goal is to intrude on how women make decisions about their own medical care. Please stand with me to stop these attacks from going any further.
Thanks, as always, for all you do
