Rick Perry, as Wrong on History as Bachmann or Palin!
So, clearly
he must appeal to the anti-education segment of the right wing base!

It not only bothers me that Perry made this mistake, it bothers me that he doesn't appear to KNOW it was a mistake.  Not a CLUE.

This is what ignorant looks like, sounds like, governs like.

Consistently, these fools give lip service to the Founding Fathers, to the U.S. Constitution, to the Aemrican Revolution, even to religion.........and over and over and over they get it wrong. And they clearly don't even know it is wrong until one of their handlers explains it to them. This is distinctly different from an occasional misspeaking; it demonstrates a frightening level of ignorance and lack of education, be it Perry, or Palin, or Bachmann.

  1. DG,

You may or may not be right about these folks "not knowing" this stuff. I think you're right about some of them, and wrong about others. Some are just stupid; they don't know any better. Others leverage this stuff because they know it works with uninformed folks, especially during difficult economic times, which tend to lead to frustration and angry insularity. Mr. Perry and Ms. Bachmann seem to me to be part of the former group. To me, however, the real danger is with people such as Mr. Romney (the future G.O.P. nominee), who seems to be part of the latter group. The former group is incendiary, which is unhelpful. However, the latter group is insidious, which is even worse, because it suggests slowly-but-surely anesthetizing the American public to the G.O.P. agenda, which used to be the middle-right and right-wing agenda, but which at present is the far-right "cut-all-taxes-all-the-time" agenda. (This is their agenda despite the fact that federal taxes are at their lowest since 1951, and the economy is struggling. Hmmm....)

As a sane American who knows that Ms. Bachmann and Mr. Cain have little or no chance of winning the G.O.P. nomination (good!), I hope that Mr. Perry can pull off the nomination, because he'd get hammered by President Obama in November 2012. However, the G.O.P. nominee will be Mr. Romney. This means that a real fight is on our hands.

P.S. The most sane G.O.P. candidate is Mr. Huntsman. He's reasonable, which means that he stands no chance of winning the nomination.
