Anyone who believes the claims of Romney and Ryan believes factually inaccurate things, that are only plausible to those who embrace right wing fantasies, and reject reality.There is really only one side of the political spectrum that consistently and overwhelmingly applies to in a fact-based world. It is not equally true of both sides of the spectrum.
Here are the statistics of Mitt Romney's policies as governor of Massachusetts, which are substantially his proposed policies for the nation:
-- Romney vetoed a bill that would ban the state of Massachusetts from “contracting with companies that outsourced labor overseas”
-- During Romney’s tenure, Massachusetts lost manufacturing jobs faster than the national average
-- Massachusetts rate of losing manufacturing jobs was slower than before and after Mitt Romney took office
Stewart nails it, 2 minutes in. That Obama didn't hold Romney to more factual statements was a terrible failure on Obama's part.
Romney lies to his base, the part of the 47% (or in the case of Lyin' Ryan, 30%) who stupidly don't realize they're voting (and donating) AGAINST their own self-interest and the best interest of the nation.
NO ONE credible, no one except the most partisan sock puppets, supports Romney and Ryan's claims as factual...and even those on the right are unable to swallow some of those stinkers.
Lt. Col. Andy Wood, the former head of a Special Forces “Site Security Team,” said in a pair of interviews that the embassy staff, including slain Amb. Chris Stevens, had wanted his group of 16 special operations soldiers to stay in Libya.
ReplyDelete“[The] first choice was for us to stay,” Wood told ABC News. “That would have been the choice of the embassy people in Tripoli.”
Wood told CBS News that when he found out his team was being removed in August, he felt, “like we were being asked to play the piano with two fingers. There was concern amongst the entire embassy staff.”
“We felt we needed more, not less,” Wood added.
The former security officer said embassy staffers approached him to express concerns about their safety, but said the State Department instructed diplomatic workers “to do with less.”
Mitt Romney was a liar at the Republican convention; his commercials are lies; his statements during the debate - lies.

Remember how wrong information misled people on the Libya attack? That would be the conclusion jumping that was yet another gaffe by Romney speaking too soon?
This is a complex and complicated series of events. When the investigation is done, then we will know what did and did not happen. THEN and ONLY then will we know what happened, and who - if anyone - ade a mistake. OR did not make a mistake.
There is just too much conflicting information.
What we do know is that Obama and Sec State Clinton have been doing a FAR better job than Dubya and the right did when they were in charge.
The issue is who is the liar; it is consistently Lyin' Ryan and his sidekick MItts on R-money.

The difference is that when Obama messes up - as he did with a less than stellar debate performance, WE don't make up conspiracy theories with ourselves as victims.
CBS News reporter Sharyl Attkisson has sat down with Lt. Col. Andy Wood to discuss the security situation in Libya prior to them leaving in August and he told her that the State Dept. was telling them to stop asking for more security:

WOOD: There was certainly no disconnect in our transfer of information to them. They were getting the information on the situation on the ground. We sent it up through State Dept. cables and I sent it up to the military side on the D.O.D. side. So, there was awareness of what the situation in Libya was about.
ATTKISSON: How did you get the word that your team would not be allowed to stay?
WOOD: We knew that was coming through the cables and the draft cables that were going back and forth. The requests were being modified to say ‘don’t even request for D.O.D. support’.
ATTKISSON: So State Dept. was telling the folks on the ground in Libya ‘don’t continue to ask for this help’?
WOOD: Correct

And for the record, I did not say the Bush admin failed to fund the state department, but pointed out that there were funding lag times, particularly where large equipment like vehicles, airplanes, etc. were concerned - and that it was conservatives cutting money to protect these staffers.
I did also point out that Bush/Cheney failed to provide adequate protections to us prior to 9/11, and to our troops in both wars, but especially Iraq. So I find it hypocritical if you are only faulting the Obama administration if this is a budget constraint issue.
So - be patient. Deal with it.
