Ignorance and Tea baggery is a choice

  1. Hello DG, out of curiosity, where do you get these little talking points? I only ask because of the part on voting in plutocrats who wish to take away Social Security along with other retirement. Does the origin of this poster realize that this is exactly what this pro(?) labor President that he/she voted for is doing.

I don't get it Dog. And I've been following you and reading your work long enough to feel comfortable in asking this one question. Why does it seem to me that you give most, if not all Democrats a free pass? There are many things that our President has done that is deplorable in my opinion. But his recent willingness to put Social Security on the (table) seems the utmost egregious. My simple question is, how can you still support him?

  2. Obama has made it clear that it is not HIS preference to take away these things; rather it is a deal he has been forced to offer to get anything of value or necessity out of the obstructionist gridlock of the right -- and these ARE efforts that clearly the right has been demanding, not the left.

No free pass; I don't feel he should have offered those things. But I also am very clear that the right is the party at fault for seeking to get rid of them all the way back to FDR forward to present.

  3. I understand what you're saying DG, but his preference does not, and should not matter. Taking away a percentage of an elderly persons retirement benefits, which is paltry to begin with, is just despicable. I know the GOP's track record on Social Security, it's to be expected. But as you mentioned the Right has been trying to get rid of them since FDR. The only difference now is that we have a leftist President who will sit down with them and negotiate over these retirement benefits.

I have never been afraid to criticize a President. And even though I did not vote for Obama, I have never been afraid to give him credit when it was deserved either. But right now all I can say is that I am thoroughly disgusted Mr. President.

I understand that compromise is a big part of the political machine Dog. But this is one negotiating chip that should never be used. Never ever. Are we truly a country that is willing to turn our backs on the elderly, and disabled? I hope not.

    1. I agree J.O.B. - but I also recognize that what can be done can be undone, and that there is still room for improvement on Soc.Sec., like raising the cap.

I agree with the base, that we shouldn't make this compromise, but I also keep in mind the origins of it, and am willing to look at the why of considering it.
