ReplyDeleteI would expect you to defend these court result. Clearly, defendants merit a lawyer in a system that relies on being adversarial. Presumably this plea was an attempt to avoid the Death Penalty?
And Isn't double jeopardy a bad thing, punishing someone twice for the same thing?
I am not disagreeing with you so much as failing adequately to understand your objection. I have too much respect for your background and professional standards not to seek clarification.
Isn't a guilty plea, by a guilty defendant desirable? Doesn't it best serve the population to lock up a killer? And Isn't the decision frankly the best use of tax dollars if Mangione is insane, not just a violent asshole?
