So, who cares what silly old Falwell had to say?
His attempt at making the U.S. a theocracy is continued by others. So we all need to remember what George Washington asserted, and to push back against theocracy attempts. In the U.S., if people like Falwell, or the local Mayor in the incident below have their way, your religion - or lack of one - can make you a second class citizen.

"Take me to f*cking court, because I don't care... Minorities are not going to run my city."
These were the words spoken by La Vista, Nebraska Mayor Douglas Kindig last Sunday at a Memorial Day event when a resident of La Vista, who is also a board member of American Atheists local affiliate Omaha Atheists, tried to give him a business card to set up a meeting. The resident, Robert Fuller, was concerned about separation of church and state after a local pastor hosted a religious service at the city-sponsored event, complete with songs about Jesus and overtly Christian prayers.
Omaha Atheists are planning a rally, "Minorities Matter, Mr. Mayor," for Monday. Mr. Fuller, American Atheists Managing Director Amanda Knief, and Omaha Atheists spokesperson Jill Fitzgerald plan to meet with Mayor Kindig on Tuesday afternoon.
