Dishonorable Mention, End of the Year Awards

While certainly not as distinguished as the venerable Politifact Lie of the Year Award she won last year,
it does deserve mention here that Sarah Palin has not gone unrecognized for another twelve months worth of dishonesty and inaccuracy.

This time, Sarah Palin has won the second ever Glenn Beck Honorary Award for Misinformation, from Media Matters.

While I appreciate the detailed reasons outlined by Media Matters for their choice........seriously? Have you seen the extraordinary lifetime body of work in inaccuracy, and outright lies, in the promotion of an extreme theocratic rightwing ideology that Michele Bachmann has achieved?  Palin, while even more popular with her segment of that same narrow base, is still a jenny-come-lately, compared to Bachmann.

While we may be slightly biased, (being a Minnesota-based blog and therefore more personally embarrassed by Bachmann's many misstatements), to redress this oversight, I must award the first 2010 Bad Pennies Award to our recently re-elected (god only knows what her constituents were  thinking, if you can call it thinking) 6th Congressional District Representative, Michele Bachmann.

Congratulations, Congresswoman Bachmann; we can only hope that the continuing recognition for your factually flawed commentary might at some point register, and prompt you to change your ways.

But we're not going to hold our breath while hoping for that particular change (pun intended).
