Wallyworld Alternate Reality

Do we really need to subsidize the Walton family that owns WalMart? REALLY?

  1. This was somehow accidentally deleted AFTER being posted - apologies to JOB for whatever glitch did this:
I once commented somewhere that minimum wage needs to be raised to resemble a "Living wage". I remember a someone commenting on how ridiculous the idea was. Something about a baby sitter, and McDonald's burgers. (JOB)

  2. dog gone:

I was looking for the source of that Walmart poster and found this:

Walmart recently expanded their local store into a superstore, right across the street from an Aldi and a quarter of a mile from the only large supermarket in a 10 mile radius (you need to also know that the large supermarket is part of a chain that owns the only large supermarkets in a 20 mile radius). Aldi is a huge chain of small stores that fall in between convenience stores and supermarkets. Fresh milk, eggs, prepackaged veggies and fruits, convenience foods and staples. They have set prices, no "shopping" cards, no pharmacies. They are pretty bare bones (no whole wheat flour, for instance) but they do a good job in most ways.

The local chain in non-union (the chain that they competed with has pretty much gone out of business, closing their store here about two years ago) and has been fucking the local customers as much as possible. Walmart will compete with them UNTIL they drive them out of business; then they will go back to doing what they do best, performing the financial Heimlich on U.S.ians who got nowhere else to shop.
