Updated, Boycott These Businesses, especially when corporate owned

Contact these local businesses, and voice your disapproval; don't simply avoid them and expect them to read your mind. Be clear, be polite, but be emphatic and forceful about your beliefs. Treating employees like this is inconsistent with good corporate citizens in your community.

Whoops! We don't have Chick-Fail-Hey! on here!  And clearly we need to add Hostess to the list of companies which are bad employers, bad corporate citizens, bad members of our communities, by engaging in excessive executive compensation, by equity stripping and looting companies, sticking them with bad debt that robs those creditors who dealt with them in good faith, and by paying too low wages to the labor that does the essential work to create products and services.

  1. Where do I go to boycott Hostess... or hey better yet just the bakers union, they sure got theirs, 30% of their employees that screw the other 70%..... and now are whining like little bitches, they should have listened to the Teamsters.

And I sure hope that they have fun in 26 weeks when their funemployment runs out now that all the 99 week waivers have expired.

  2. You will be stampeded by the rush crowds having a last minute buy-up of Hostess. It looks as if they brand will be sold off, and then other companies can try manufacturing them, and will pay decent wages.

Meanwhile it is looking as if the courts will do a clawback of the grossly inflated compensation the crooked executives paid themselves, in advance of declaring bankruptcy -- in the case of the CEO, a 300% increase. It wasn't for merit obviously. Another example of vulture capitalism, not union greed.

By the way, I hope you are enjoying finding out that the Republicans and Fox news are now looking perfectly stupid for trying to turn Benghazi into something it wasn't. All that fuss for nothing tsk tsk tsk.....and silly you for buying into it. Hope you learn to wait for the full story next time. The facts, not the stupid paranoid conspiracy theories, consistently support Obama's administration. I imagine you hate that - but it's true.

Once the congress resumes, now that the bluff of the GOP and Tea Party is being called, I'm betting that extended unemployment benefit deal will be back - as well it should be! Time for some clawback of all that crooked excessive executive compensation to pay for it too.

  3. I'm sure that the food stamp crowd is gonna love the $50 a month austerity measures that DoA enacted the day after the election.....

  4. Boy I sure hope they do claw back the 3-5 million in executive compensation, do you think that will cover the 99 weeks of funemployment for the 13,000 (the 70% that worked with hostess) that tried to try and save the company????

  5. And the bakers should have listened to the teamsters....

On Wednesday, Nov. 14, Hostess Brands indicated that if it couldn’t resume normal operations by 5 p.m. EST on Thursday, Nov. 15 that it would have to begin the liquidation process. Teamster Hostess members and all Hostess employees should know this is not an empty threat or a negotiating tactic, but the certain outcome if members of the BCTGM continue to strike. This is based on conversations with our financial experts, who, because the Teamsters were involved in the legal process, had access to financial information about the company.

    1. What is more likely going to happen is that the employees being screwed by management will get new jobs, in the improving economy, and that the crooked greedy executives are going to be separated from their ill-gotten gains -- and NOT have anyone who wants to employ them.

Ambassador Rice has been vindicated; Romney has been solidly rejected, and the GOP is repudiating his positions. Obama's approval rating, at 58% has never been higher.

And Fox news looks stupid, and has been shown up as chronically factually a failure.

Life is good. You should try to get more accurate sources of information Thomas; you are failing alongside Fox news by relying on right wing crazies for your ideas and bad information.

And the PotUS did not have real time access to these feeds for seven hours, but sure could be photographed watching the seals killing OBL.... for 45 minutes.....

On "Meet the Press" David Plouffe is asked if it was appropriate for the President to fundraise while knowing the attack in Libya was a terrorist attack? (September 30, 2012).

  8. Benghazi is a non-story; Ambassador Rice released the information that was appropriate at the time, with the proviso that it could change as further investigation turned up new or aditional information. So?
It was more honest and more accurate than what was released to the public during the Dubya administration.
There was nothing wrong with Obama fundraising; it was less objectionable than Dubya ignorign briefings, or taking lots of vacations, including briefings about the imminent occurrence of 9/11.

This is no scandal, no matter how your side tries to spin it. Obama has been relatively fuss free; he is a remarkable success.

You on the other hand are one of the dupes of the right, too bad.

    1. A minor terrorist attack that regrettably killed four Americans.

However, that is a minor event compared to the many other attacks of our diplomatic missions under the previous administration. Obama's done better with his intelligence services than the neocons; his foreign policy has been far more successful as well.

So, however much Faux news tries to make something of this, it is not a scandal, not an embarrassment, no matter how many fools errands silly old fuckups like Rep. King of NY try to conduct. He ended up looking stupid. McCain ended up looking like a silly old man too -- and Obama came out of the whole thing, as did Ambassador Rice, smelling like a rose.

And you hate that boo hooo - the right is one big epic fail.

  10. 150 terrorists with coordinated roadblocks attack the US consulate with mortars for 7 hours and the troops that go to rescue him are denied air support, and Amb. Stevens is killed 4.5 hours into the event.

    Minor incident......

  11. Thomas,

Same crap, different day. You're a troll. Behave better, respond to what is presented just as you want people to respond to you. If you just want to toss bombs, go someplace else.

Here's what we seem to know. At the time, the preliminary, raw intelligence suggested the Bengazhi attack was in part spontaneous and in part orchestrated. We also know that someone, someone or some people who were part of the intelligence community, scrubbed the intel, as is their job, as is their norm, and changed the wording a bit. Not a great deal, a bit. Barack Obama NEVER said Al Qaeda was defeated, he said they were LARGELY defeated, he had no vulnerabilities here except with the far right, so there was no need to lie or obfuscate. Unlike George Bush's administration, he didn't create his OWN intelligence apparatus to discount and dismiss the advice of experts.

So, that's the deal, that's the story, oh that and apparently someone made a decision to not staff the security detail at a building which was neither a consulate NOR an embassy, quite so strongly as some other people suggested.

These are decisions of staffers, perhaps wrong, perhaps only wrong in the lens of hindsight. Either way, they aren't earth shattering, they aren't crimes, there was no cover-up, there were no lies. The only real story here is that you faux patriots try to undermine a President you can't defeat. Much like what you did with Clinton, you go on which hunts. You engage in something which is kissing cousin to sedition. You seek to undermine the government quite simply because you don't like the person at it's head. Now THAT, much like your made-up crap about voter fraud, THAT's actual crime, THAT's actual fraud. You prevent the country from focusing on real problems when it needs to do so, and you're happy about it. My suggestion for you is this, if you can't accept the will of the people, if you can't live up to what you asked all of us to do, namely aceept a President we didn't chose (as you chose Bush), then I suggest you leave. Leave this blog to be sure if you can't engage in discourse, and leave the country if you must engage in sedition.

  12. Pretty much that sums it up.

Republicans cut the funding for security, despite warnings this kind of thing could happen.

Obama had just taken out a prominent Libyan terrorist leader with a drone attack in Yemen, and the whole Muslim insult video had just sparked staged (as distinct from genuine) demonstrations in Egypt, where a faction that couldn't get grass roots support for it were paid.

While some sort of action had been contemplated at some point there had not been extensive planning for the Benghazi attack; it was similar to a few other attacks carried out by a local militia with ties to al Quaeda. The two events - the drone attack AND the demonstration prompted the timing. In that sense, it was spontaneous, and by terrorists.

Petraeus -- a conservative who, before his scandal, had been considering running for office as a Republican -- confirmed the White House version of events.

No story. No scandal. Just an unfortunate tragedy for which we can correctly blame Republicans and their failed notions about spending money and their failed notions about government.

A win for Obama. Again. A loss for Thomas. Again.

Hostess - another example of vulture capitalism, not union greed. Again.

Boycotts against companies who are not good employers, not good community / corporate citizens. Again.
