res ipsa loquitur

That's Latin, and also legalese, for 'the thing speaks for itself'.

The NRA works for the gun manufacturers, helping them to sell as many guns and related equipment as possible, including extended magazines. WalMart is the single largest retailer of firearms and related products in the country.

Both WalMart and the NRA have worked together to control gun-related legislation through ALEC, and are continuing to cooperate in less than transparent fashion to continue to do so.

So it should come as no surprise when the New Trajectory blog tracked the surprising number of on-premises shootings. WalMart is a common location for people to both openly and concealed carry of firearms. While the pro-gunners want us all to believe that they are safe and legal - they're not. The number of shootings shows the extent to which they are not safe, 45 so far this year that have been reported.

From that recent blog post, here is just a list, which may not even be complete, of just WalMart October's shootings:

October 29, 2012 -- Kernersville, North Carolina: Justin Ross Murphy, 20, opened fire inside the Walmart. Luckily, no one was harmed, and Murphy was captured later by police.
October 26, 2012 -- El Paso, Texas: A man was driving in the Walmart parking lot when he noticed he was being followed. He pulled over, and the other driver got out and shot the man three times, shattering bones in his leg and his ankle, then beat the man with his gun, rendering the victim unable to support himself. The suspect and motive are unknown.
October 13, 2012 -- Fredericksburg, Texas: A Walmart employee was shot in the arm in the Walmart parking log.
Res ipsa loquitor, if there are shootings every other week or more, the safety and reliability of people shopping while armed are not that good
