About assault style weapons bans working...

I would argue that the weapons ban had some serious problems which limited how well it could work. I would argue that a new weapons ban cannot afford to grandfather in existing assault style weapons and any other equipment which is banned, like expanded capacity magazines, in order to be effective.

Not all mass shootings have involved assault style weapons, but the overwhelming majority have, around 70% -80% involve them, and/or large capacity magazines. There is clear evidence that the requirement that these shooters stop to reload is important, and that the rate of fire is significant in the number of people who are killed or injured.  This should be perfectly straightforward, logical, and uncontroversial.
