Florida woman accidentally shoots fiance at Manatee gun range MANATEE — A woman accidentally shot her fiance after a hot shell casing landed in her shirt at a local gun range Saturday afternoon, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
About 1:40 p.m., the woman was firing a Taurus Model 1911 .45-caliber handgun at Logue Road Gun Range, 1805 Logue Rd. When a casing ejected and went inside her shirt, she bent over and tried to swat the hot metal from her clothing. During that time, she accidentally discharged another round that went through her fiance’s right thigh, according to the sheriff’s office.

Tennessee: 15-year-old accidentally kills self with 'family handgun' RIP
The Sweetwater community is morning the death of a 15-year-old Sweetwater High student after police say he accidentally shot himself Thursday afternoon while handling a family handgun.

Police say Matthew Daniels was killed when the gun discharged at his home.

“It’s a tragedy for the family and the community,” Sweetwater Police Chief Eddie Byrum said, of the young man who was noted as an outstanding student and leader at his school.

Alabama man fatally shot during game of quick draw
RIP
Police say a 30-year-old man was accidentally killed during a game of quick draw at an automotive shop in Boaz.

WAFF-TV ( http://bit.ly/TwwjXF) reports a group of people were playing quick draw with guns they thought were unloaded Thursday night when Patrick Daniel Garrett was shot in his torso.
Police say Garrett was taken to Marshall Medical Center South and was pronounced dead.
Charges have not been filed and police confiscated a .40-caliber Glock as evidence.

Alabama man accidentally shoots himself during argument with teen
A 27-year-old man accidentally shot himself Thursday after starting an argument with and then pointing the weapon at a juvenile, according to a press release from Gadsden Police Capt. Bobby Jackson.
A 17-year-old male told police he was at a friend’s house on Shahan Street when the older man asked him to step into a room to talk. The juvenile said the man accused him of breaking into his house and pulled out a pistol and pointed it at his head. They struggled and the gun went off, striking the 27-year-old in the arm.
Both men ran off in different directions and both eventually went to the emergency room for treatment. The investigation is ongoing.

Iowa man accidentally shoots himself at Des Moines gun show An Iowa gun dealer was hospitalized after he accidentally shot himself in the hand before a gun show Friday afternoon at the Iowa State Fairgrounds.
The 54-year-old St. Charles resident told police he was showing off a .25 caliber pistol he thought was unloaded when he slid the action of the gun causing it to fire. The bullet went through his left palm, according to a Polk County Sheriff’s report.

California woman accidentally shot while driving
STOCKTON - A woman walked into a hospital about 4 p.m. Thursday suffering a gunshot wound to the back, police said.
The woman told police she was accidentally shot by someone riding in the back seat of her car near Arch Airport Road and South Airport Way. She was alert and conscious, and her injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, authorities said.
The woman said she did not know the man who shot her, and there was no description of the shooter, police said.

Shooting at Alabama auto shop leaves 1 dead BOAZ, AL (WAFF) -
A man was shot at Extreme Concepts on Highway 431 in Boaz Thursday night, according to The Sand Mountain Reporter.
Police Chief Terry Davis said the man died. RIP
Police are reportedly questioning a man, but initial information indicates the shooting was accidental. Officials said they plan to do a full investigation.
No one has been charged.
The victim’s name has not been released.

Georgia gun store employee accidentally shot DAWSONVILLE - A female employee of a Dawson County business suffered what authorities described as an accidental gunshot to her leg late Wednesday morning.

Sheriff’s spokesman Major Tony Wooten said it happened at Dawsonville Gun and Pawn on Highway 53. The store is near Stephens Road.

“One employee had attempted to try to break down a gun that was brought in by a customer, during that time, the gun went off and struck another employee in the leg,” Wooten said.

Wooten said the firearm was a 9mm Ruger semi-automatic handgun. He said the woman’s injuries appeared non life-threatening. She was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

South Carolina juvenile accidentally shot while playing video games An officer responded to a residence on Brailsford Boulevard in Summerville in reference to an accidental shooting of a juvenile. When he arrived, he spoke to several witnesses, who said the subject, a 22 year old black male, came into the family room while they were playing video games, put his hand in his pocket to retrieve something and pulled out a .22 caliber pistol. The gun went off, shooting the victim in the right shoulder.
While the officer was there, the subject, who was not initially present when the officer arrived, returned. He told the officer he had thrown the gun in a bush outside the residence.
The officer got the gun from the bush and ran the serial number through dispatch. It came back stolen, and soon the subject was on his way to jail, charged with possession of a stolen gun.

New Jersey Special Agent Accidentally Shoots Himself at Police Academy Gun Range A special agent of the New Jersey Department of Treasury is being treated at a local hospital after accidentally shooting himself during training at the Monmouth County Police Academy Firearms Training Facility.
Capt. Andy Kudrick of the Howell Police Department said the 41-year-old man was taking part in firearms familiarization training when his firearm discharged. A press release from the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office said the gun was a 9mm handgun.
According to the press release there were two shooters and two instructors on the range at the time of the incident. An EMT was also on the scene and responded to the incident.
The man was then taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center where he was treated for what is believed to be a non life threatening a gunshot wound to the left foot.
The incident is being investigated by the Howell Police Department and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.

Massachussetts Man Injured In Accidental Shooting NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. – A resident of the Linwood Mills apartment complex in Whitinsville is recovering from a gunshot wound from an accidental shooting that occurred Tuesday morning.
Police said they responded to a call from Linwood Mills at about 6:30 a.m. According to a Linwood Mill resident, the unidentified man was found in the lobby of the building by another resident on her way to the mailboxes.
Police said the man accidentally discharged his firearm and the bullet struck him in the abdomen. He was taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester for treatment and discharged the same day.
Residents became fearful during the day as police investigated the incident, a resident said, but the apartment management team released a statement later in the day to reassure them there was no danger.

Colorado toddler accidentally shoots himself in foot after finding .40-caliber handgun FOUNTAIN, Colo. - The parents of a 3-year-old Fountain toddler may face charges after police say the boy accidentally shot himself in the foot with a .40-caliber handgun.
Police told KRDO-TV the boy found the semi-automatic handgun in the master bedroom of his home on Wednesday. The boy’s mother was home at the time but did not witness the shooting, police said.
The boy was transported to a hospital and is expected to recover.
Police said their investigation is continuing. The Department of Human Services is also investigating.
“The Fountain Police Department encourages responsible gun ownership and would like to remind citizens to take care when handling or storing firearms,” they said in a release.
Police reminded gun owners to always use a trigger lock, gun safe or similar device to keep weapons out of the reach of children.

Ohio man charged in fatal shooting of son, 4 Jamarcus Allen was a typical 4-year-old boy. He was ball of energy, loved super heroes and had a curiosity about guns.
Just last week, his mother said, Jamarcus found his father’s pistol when it was supposed to be hidden in a bathroom of their Akron home. Jamella Allen said she scolded Jamarcus and demanded that her husband get rid of the gun.
On Wednesday morning, it appears that same gun was fired, the bullet piercing the head of RIPJamarcus. He died at Akron Children’s Hospital.
Jamella Allen, 42, spoke Wednesday afternoon, just hours after learning her son was dead.
She recounted the gun story and how she demanded that her husband take the firearm from the house. Now, she is left mourning and wondering why and how her son died.

Mississippi Shooting Death Ruled Accidental Sumter County Sheriff Tyrone Clark Tuesday released the identity of a man who died in an
accidental shooting Jan. 20.
Clark said 44-year-old Bobby Lee Carstarphen, of Lipscomb, Ala., died as the result as gunshot
wound to the upper chest area along County Road 10 in Kinterbish.
RIP
Newscenter 11 reported the death as a hunting accident. The Department of Fish and Wildlife assisted in the investigation.

Sheriff Clark says an autopsy was ordered but the shooting was ruled accidental and no arrest is expected.

Woman's accidental shooting investigated in Kansas Spring Hill police are investigating what they are terming an “accidental shooting.”
A medical emergency brought officers to a home on North Jackson Street on Monday night.
When they arrived at about 9:45 p.m., a woman, who had been hit in the face, told police she had accidentally shot herself.
However, another person in the home fled from police. That person was later stopped at Interstate 435 and Quivira Road.
Police had no further information prior to press time.

  2. And these were just the ones that were noticed, and probably not all of those made it to the news.

    These are avoidable, unnecessary, and just plain nuts. Time to tell the gun crazies to put their guns away in a locked safe, unloaded, with the ammunition elsewhere, and if they can't keep it there -------we should take them away, like removing plastic bags from small children because they are dangerous and not toys.
