This is dangerous, this is bad, this is unsafe

Thanks to my friend Baldr for finding this graphic.  In case you don't think this is a REAL and SERIOUS problem, you might recall the instance where a right wing politician alleged someone fired a gun shot through his office a few years ago, in an east coast city, only to find out that the angle proved it was a bullet fired into the air that happened to randomly come through his window.  This kind of gun fire not only harms people, it does property damage, often damage which is not noticed until it becomes costly, urban, suburban, and rural.  Below is a graph of a densely populated urban area.

We have a problem with so many guns in this country, such a saturation of firearms, that far too many guns are in the hands of irresponsible people.  The problem is, that like those who are terrible drivers who don't believe they are bad drivers, many of those who believe they are safe gun handlers/owners are far from it.  Our gun violence statistics including statistics like this prove that to be true.
Substantially high celebratory gunfire activity on both July 4 and New Year's Eve. This is data for the San Francisco Bay Area in 2012 monitored by ShotSpotter in 6 local agencies.
