THIS is the consequence of waging culture war on women!

I have been struck by the number of conservatives who feign surprise that there is a war on women, who dishonestly insist that there is no such thing taking place when conservatives remove legislation that makes it illegal - and more legally accessible - to hold employers accountable when they pay women less for equal work.  It stuns me that these same conservatives, nearly always men, deny that requiring medically unnecessary trans-vaginal ultrasounds, or mandating that women be given medically inaccurate information about abortion causing breast cancer, or which makes it legal for a doctor to LIE to a woman about her health if he thinks she might make a decision with which he disagrees on religious grounds.  It appalls me that these conservatives don't recognize that they are insulting and angering women when they pass legislation that requires any woman to discuss contraception decisions with her employer AND TO GET HER EMPLOYER'S APPROVAL for contraception to be covered in her health care benefits.

Then there is the issue of NOT passing the renewal of the Violence Against Women Act, and the attempts to redefine rape, and the Republican Party platform that denies a woman an abortion under any circumstances, including rape, incest, or the life or health of the mother.  This is ON TOP OF those laws which give a rapist parental rights over a child, including allowing a rapist to prevent a woman from having an abortion, and which gives a rapist shared custody.  These are ALL REPUBLICAN legislation and policies, and they are ALL deeply offensive to women.

There are consequences to those policies, and this is just the beginning of those consequences. As is noted in the clip below, women vote in greater numbers than men do.

Maybe gas bags like Rush Limbaugh should think about that before calling women sluts or femi-nazis next time -- not Ms. Fluke, not Ms. Dunham, not Lily Ledbetter, not ANY woman.  OR, expect to lose, expect more Democratic women to run, and expect more women - including conservative women - to vote down Republicans and other right wing extremists.

While I realize that there are a lot of blond bimbos among the Fox News talking heads, don't kid yourselves for even a moment that any of them are representing the American female point of view. They say that right wing nonsense, because they are PAID to say it, not because it's true. Or in the case of Ann Coulter, because she is a hateful media whore who makes a living out of trying to fabricate controversy.

Pretend not to understand why, or genuinely don't get it, it doesn't matter. What does matter is that women are pissed off at the right, and we vote, and we will continue to vote, and to vote in greater numbers --- but not for conservatives.

I hadn't thought we would have to go back to the 70's to review the fundamentals, but maybe we do for the right wing neanderthals. If they get nothing else, that part about 'in numbers too big to ignore' should register with them after this recent election!
