Would you like to help medical science?

The Personal Genome Project is looking for volunteers.  This project could provide a massive free tool for scientists to further understanding of disease and human genetics.

Not much is in it for the participants other than an analysis of your DNA, but this information will also be available to the rest of the world, as anonymity is not guaranteed.  participants will not have their name published, but studies have shown it is possible to work out someone’s identity from genetic databases.   The website makes it clear that you may not benefit from this procedure.

It also makes clear that this data will be available to the public.  But they want participants who are willing to publicly share their personal data for the greater good.

On the other hand, your information could help find a cure for a disease which may be considered incurable.
