Keep on Truckin'! Mark Kessler, Posterboy for Failure

It's too funny - and too much fun laughing at Mark Kessler, poster-boy for Failure.  I'm betting the 'other' related truck-in (like a hippie sit-in, but with trucks) will be poorly attended, a flop. But the similarity between Kessler and the Robert Crumb image was too good to pass up...  There are people we should take seriously, and then there are these clowns.

Below, you can see what I mean:

EX-chief Kessler, who was fired from his job as Chief (and also the only officer) of teeny weeny itsy bitsy Gilberton, Pennsylvania, is having a "truck-in" protest of his firing for assorted incompetence, job failures, and foul mouthed ugliness. Which prompted me to remark upon the unavoidable similarity between Kessler and the iconic Robert Crumb comix image, so closely associated with the motto and music of Truckin', from the 1970s.

We have not one, but two 'truck-in' protests over the same period. As Raw Story notes, the far right wing extremists are - so far - talking about rallying in support of foul-mouthed gun hugger Kessler:

Members of a group of truck drivers attempted to back away from a description of their upcoming protest involving threats of “citizens arrests” against lawmakers while also showing support for the Pennsylvania police chief who has been documented shooting at figures representing political leaders and talking about shooting a “libtard out of a tree.”

In a statement released on Monday, organizers for the national “Ride For The Constitution” demonstrations referred to Gilberton Chief Mark Kessler as a “Constitutional Police Chief” who has been “battling the local, State [sic] and Federal [sic] government in a constitutional battle in direct retaliation for his outspoken stance on the Second Amendment,” while encouraging supporters to attend a public hearing there on Oct. 10.

Members of the group were also working to distance themselves from a U.S. News report on the protest, scheduled for Oct. 11, in which one participant, Earl Conlon, talked about indicting lawmakers through a “civilian grand jury” during the event, a series of general strikes in which participants shut their trucks down on major highways, including I-495, commonly known as the inner loop of the Washington, D.C. beltway.

“What we want to do is go in nice and peaceful and keep it as peaceful as possible,” Conlon told U.S. News. “But if they decide to get ugly with us we’re going to do what we have to do. If all I get is one or two congressmen walked out of there in handcuffs, that will be a shot across the bow that will ripple across all branches of government.”
Kessler is more of a dumb-dumb man (pun intended) than the 'doo-dah' man of the Grateful Dead lyrics; he is illiterate if you look at his facebook page or follow any of his other rants.  To paraphrase the lyrics, it is time for Kessler to recognize that his 15 minutes of fame is over, it's time for the lights to shut off, from the media, and for him to move along.  He played his cards, and they weren't worth the cardboard they were printed on.  What a long, strange, and UGLY trip Kessler has been; but now, it's buh-bye.  Don't let the gate to the town hit you on the arse on your way out of it.  Maybe you can hitch a ride on one of those trucks, if any show up in Gilberton, but now the spokesperson Earl Conlon admits there will be no D.C. citizens arrests or shut down of any kind.  In the words of the Grateful Dead, it's been a long, strange trip alright - but this one is going nowhere, the cards are all jokers, and we know what face is on them - and the game is lost :
Truckin, like the do-dah man. once told me youve got to play your hand
Sometimes your cards aint worth a dime, if you don't layem down,

Sometimes the lights all shinin on me;
Other times I can barely see.
Lately it occurs to me what a long, strange trip it's been.

  1. This guy's a A-class loser, a poster-boy for the braindead extremist leadheads that cluster around him with their assault rifles, and so extreme that even the Oathkeepers want nothing to do with him. As with Ted Nugent, he's a great spokesman for why we need better gun control.

    Adding this post as an update to my last one on him: http://newtrajectory.blogspot.com/2013/08/police-chief-mark-kessler-doubles-down.html

  2. Glad to hear one of these nuts got fired. Safety is number one, and he scares me. Rely on the law, not your gun, dude. Constitutionalist. Wow.
