Another in the Series of Armed and Dangerous While Old, White, Flabby and Crabby (and inept) - 7

I'm always amused, and frankly at a loss to fathom the news stories of people who try to commit crimes with fake but realistic looking guns, including toys; they define criminally stupid.  They have all of the negatives, with none of the advantages in their choices.  It made an interesting twist on that stupidity to find that there is now a new fad to make real guns look like toys.

I began writing this series to underline the demographic of the gun nut, the typical supporter of the NRA. The NRA likes to claim that their members are all very careful to behave legally; this is clearly belied by the presence on the board of directors since 1995 of not-very-gracefully-aging rock mediocrity Ted Nugent who is chronically in trouble for a variety of problems, including illegal hunting bear on federal lands in Alaska, and before that, illegally hunting deer in California.  Given the propensity to collect both legal and illegal weapons, the number of pro-gunners and NRA buffs who do not conscientiously follow the law when selling or trading firearms at gun shows and through other private transactions, the claim that the old, white, flabby and crabby are legal individuals is a joke - a not funny joke.  I would include among the list those hunters who do not practice safe firearm use, the perennial stories of the old, white, flabby and crabby hunters who are shot by their dogs because they were recklessly careless with their firearms.  And of course we have the other examples of the reckless and dangerous while old, white, flabby and excessively crabby, former Vice President Dick Cheney who was in such a hurry to shoot birds that he blasted another hunter in the face at close range.  Old and white, gotta haves their gunz (that's for you democommie) because they are weak and old and mad at the world.

This is my attempt to make the tragic joke of the classic, egregious gun nutter a little funnier, by holding them up to more public scrutiny, and frankly to a bit of well-deserved ridicule.  Even before I tracked down this guy's mug shot, I KNEW from the headline even before reading the details, I KNEW from the kind of stupidity, this would turn out to be one of the armed and dangerous while old and white, flabby and crabby gun nut guys.

And sure enough, here he is - in his 50s (old enough for a long time to know better), not legal, not safe, but needing a gun to empower himself, because he is a loser.  Here is Randy Smith of Fresno:

The other reason for bringing up the NRA and gun nuts generally, the whole 2nd Amendment rabble who oppose reasonable, common sense gun laws is that these are the same group of people who want to see felons get their gun rights back, as often as possible, in spite of the clear evidence that a large percentage of them do bad, stupid, injurious and even deadly things with those guns.  They are not safe, they do not become better citizens because of being allowed guns.  Making it legal for felons to get their gun rights reinstated would mean that roaming the streets with a loaded, highly dangerous weapon wouldn't have been particularly illegal.  These same gunner goons want to allow everyone, felon or not, to be armed to the teeth everywhere they go - we're supposed to trust their innate goodness.  We're supposed to act stupidly and accord them their 'god given' (NOT HARDLY) Bible noting (WRONG AGAIN) 2nd Amendment rights.

There is a real benefit to the felon who gets their voting rights restored; when former felons legally vote, they are invested in their communities, they become a functional and constructive member of our society.  They are dramatically LESS likely to re-offend, to slide back into their criminal ways.  They build new lives, they stop being a drain on the resources of society and instead contribute to it.

There is no equivalent benefit from restoring gun rights to felons.  The ONLY benefit is that the NRA, effectively the lobbying arm of gun manufacturers, and extremist gun owners, will help the gun industry make more money, sell more guns, ammo and accessories, and kill more people.

Just take a long look at old crabby white man Randy Smith in the photo, and then take a long and thoughtful look at the weaponized super soaker. Ask yourself that important question: Do you want to trust the innate goodness of this man?  Remember the words at the end of the article below.

Sergeant Mark Hudson told KMPH News: "He took the Super Soaker apart, was able to fashion a barrel to where he was able to make what's considered a zip gun, where you can fire one round through it. In this case it was a 20 gauge shotgun shell."
Bill Mayfield, who works at Gilmay Guns in Fresno, added: "The guy that made that gun, he probably got maybe $30 worth of parts. The firearms cartridge with the gun powder is an explosive. The device they're building has to be able to contain the pressure of that explosion."
"So they're just relying on, maybe this will hold up. Well, you could be putting a gun next to your head, or you could be putting a hand grenade next to your head."

Just one more old, white, crabby, flabby, dangerouslly stupid angry man who should not have a gun.

Randy Smith Converts Super Soaker into Shotgun, Cops Not Amused
In Fresno, California, police stopped Randy Smith, who was walking around with a 'Super Soaker' water gun, which had been converted into a real gun, carrying a shotgun shell.
Smith now faces several charges, including being a convicted felon in possession of ammunition, a felon in possession of a firearm, manufacture of an illegal weapon and a misdemeanor warrant.
Ironically, the police officers had just been briefed about people turning toys into shotguns.
Sergeant Mark Hudson told KMPH News: "He took the Super Soaker apart, was able to fashion a barrel to where he was able to make what's considered a zip gun, where you can fire one round through it. In this case it was a 20 gauge shotgun shell."

  1. It is amazing that so FEW of these idiots are killed every year. And, in the interest of full disclosure, I gotta say that if they were only hurting themselves I'm not sure that I'd get too worked up over it.

  2. As opposed to the young, black, happy, fit, dangerously stupid happy men that are murdering themselves at an exceptional rate on a daily basis.
Sure am worried about those old, white, crabby, flabby, dangerouslly (sic) stupid angry men...

    1. Welcome meangn - the guns in the hands of both groups are a problem, however the old white flabby and crabby are the ones hell bent on overthrowing the government via lunatic militias for example.
Might I ask why you are commenting on a post from five years ago, and what your obsession is with black male happiness? The opposite of old white crabby and flabby is not the one you posit.
Or did the description of old white crabby and flabby hit to close to home?
