Tea Party speaker, Mormon Neo-Nazi Candidate for Sheriff Apparent Shooter in Mass Murder / Suicide in Arizona

Would this be a good time to point out the inherent problems with the lax gun laws of Arizona? I think so.  I can't wait to learn his permit status, if any and how many gunzzzzz he had accumulated.
This creep could easily be the poster child for NRA gun nuts - the individuals who are obsessed with firearms, obsessed with finding someone to shoot, obsessed with threats lurking around every corner about to getcha (because you're so appealing/good looking/rich/ important/ sexy - if only in your own mind). That would be as distinct from the sane individuals who don't feel a need or desire to go armed everywhere, who aren't afraid of imminent home invasion, who don't wet themselves over improbable heroic fantasies involving their fetish objects, and who practice sound, sane gun safety for normal firearm activities like skeet shooting or hunting where a firearm is a tool in an activity, but not an essential fetish prop to a person's core identity.
J. T. Ready, who mostly personifies the National Rifle Association demographic of an old looking (he's  white overweight angry guy with right to extreme right wing leanings, killed himself and four other people in Arizona.  Ready was a speaker at Tea Party events, where he was embraced.  Ready had also attempted to be part of Occupy events, where his participation was rejected because of his hateful and extremist views.
While many on the right have tried publicly to distance themselves from the anti-immigrant, anti-Semitic, and racist views of the white supremacists, the reality is that the right has courted and embraced them.  They have been part of CPAC, the Conservative Political Action Conference, where all four of the then running GOP presidential candidates spoke.  Right wing bloggers are featured and presented with awards, including Pamela Geller who shares a number of views that she holds in common with right wing extremist mass murderer Anders Breivik in Norway, demonizing anyone who isn't white, and exclusively culturally western European. The right wing is concerned about keeping domination in the U.S. for white European-descended people, and desire to keep black, brown, and presumably Asian people in a subordinate relationship.
Ready was running for Sheriff, but he appears to be doing so - so far as I could tell - without an official endorsement.  Popular Democrat Clarence Dupnik, who gained national attention as the sheriff who took Jared Loughner into custody in 2011 is running for his party, and as of last week, Terry Frederick was the candidate was running for the Republicans, and Mark Napier was running for the Tea Party Patrios in Pima.   Ready identified that he was running as a Democrat, but it doesn't appear that the Democrats were willing to have him either - they directed the good citizens of Pima not to sign any petitions on behalf of Ready.
The conspiracy theory driven right wing-nut tin-foil-hat-brigade is positing all sorts of silliness, including that the murder suicide was really a cartel murder, and that Ready was a secret federal informant.  These people are nuts, just plain wackadoodle nut jobs, who believe any garbage, the more stupid the more it appeals to them.  It's not a reach to imagine them all huddled around playing a game of 'telephone' making up details and passing them back and forth between themselves as they fondle their arms full of firearms with frissons of gun fetish thrills and the adrenaline rush of fear - and loving it!
Here are just a few of the extensive Youtube video collection about the now-late TJ Ready.  He and his colleagues are far more damning than I could be about them.  For those of you who don't readily recognize him in some of these clips, recalled right wing majority leader Russell Pearce was a close buddy of Pearce, including having converted him to Mormonism, and then catapulted Ready right to an important status position in the church.  For those not familiar with the acronym, ADL is the Anti-Defamation League.

I could point out these guys are ignorant extremist red-necked- red-state racist, bigoted assholes, but that would be redundant.
If this piques your curiosity, wikipedia has an entry on him.  This is from that entry:
He also served as president of the Mesa Community College Republican Party Club and as a precinct committeeman for the Maricopa County Republicans. In 2006, he sought a seat on the city counsel for Mesa, Arizona. He put forth as his motto that "The Purity of the Aryan Race is the most precious resource Nature has to offer All of Humankind."[2]
As the Brits would say, Ready seems to have fancied himself a superior human being.  I don't see that in any aspect of him.  I would worry that might offend his surviving family and friends, but he appears to have shot them all.
I would not have thought this guy had anything whatsoever to do with a college edumacation; maybe he just presided over the college Republicans, but wasn't actually a student himself.  We're talking Arizona after all.  Republicans, Tea Partiers, Neo-Nazis; gun nuts all, they deserve each other, but the rest of us don't.

  1. The fact that grown men still like to play GI Joe with real guns ought to scare the hell out of people. What do you suppose happened to men like this during adolescence that trapped them forever in that stage of development?

  2. for democommie who had trouble getting his comment to post:

You might be a mikeb302000, "10%er" if you're, "a “mover and shaker” for the National Socialist Movement, a neo-Nazi group with about 330 members nationwide."

You might be a mikeb302000, "10%er" if you've, "advocated restoring the country as a “White, European homeland,” called for militant action against Jews and advocated using “lawful, deadly force” when appropriate to protect the Mexican border."

You might be a mikeb302000, "10%er" if you, "received a bad-conduct discharge from the Marines in 1996, after being court-martialed twice — once for larceny and going AWOL, and once for conspiracy and assault."

You might be a mikeb302000, "10%er" if you, "traded shots with an illegal immigrant whom Ready believed was involved in criminal activity. Nobody was hurt.".

I just wanted to interject a little humor into what is obviously a tragic situation. It appears that Ready had no family of his own to murder, so he borrowed someone else's.

There is a huge difference between the story about J.T. Ready and Junior Seau. Decent people will miss Junior Seau.

I'm sure that the gunzloonz will be along to say that people like J.T. Ready ARE crimnulz and that they will NEVER get to own no weppins, nomo, nomo.

  3. It's important to remember JT Ready often bragged about being an NRA member and "certified" instructor.

In many ways, he was a pretty typical NRA gunloon. He was a failure all of his life--earning a bad conduct discharge from the USMC, having a number of petty crime convictions, and a hatred of minorities.

  4. Welcome Jade! It is wonderful to see you commenting here!

He was indeed a failure all his life. I believe I need to write another armed and white, flabby, crabby etc. I shall have to simply substitute failed for old.

I can't figure out why he would wear body armor if he intended to kill himself, unless it was to be sure he killed everyone else he intended to do in first.

What kind of animal on two legs would kill a little girl less than two years old? I can't wait to see what it turns out was in the big mystery barrels in the back yard.

    1. Welcome to penigma 2nwo; too bad your post is both illiterate and factually inaccurate, reflecting your inability to think coherently.

JT Ready was living OFF of the woman he killed, along with her one daughter, and her granddaughter.

One of them was ON THE PHONE with the police, reporting the domestic distubance at the time of the shooting. There is a clear record of the call......which the conspiracy theorists conveniently ignore.

Why wear body armor? Because he was planning on shooting everyone else in the house, and did not initially plan to shoot himself. Presumably he did that only when he realized that the cops were en route, and that he no longer had any time to escape. In a house with that many guns, he had to be in fear of one of the residents shooting back.

This was not a hit, and if you think it was, you have presumably been 'hitting' something which makes you chemically impaired. There is absolutely NO evidence that this was a drug cartel hit, there were plenty of people around at the time of the shooting. No one was seen leaving, no one was seen arriving, and frankly there is absolutely no evidence whatsoever that JT Ready was an impediment to the Drug cartels, other than in his own day dreams.

What he was is anti immigrant, and a racist hateful bigot, not someone who could genuinely fill the role of law enforcer. Given that he was trying to run as a deomcrat after the Tea Party and the GOP wouldn't have him, and that the Democrats wouldn't have him either, sending out mass mailings and flyers repudiating him, telling people not to sign any petitions for him, maybe it was finally clear to him that no one wanted anything to do with him except a few other fringe loonies.

Which appears to include you. You do not seem well connected to fact and objective reality.

I expect that this will not be quiet on the news indefinitely, and I monitor the news media in the area periodically to check for any breaking news on this tragic shooting by a gun lunatic.

We have murder suicides multiple times a week. It is not uncommon for people to do so wearing body armor - the guy in the Seal Beach CA salon shootings was wearing body armor, and was beleived to be planning suicide before he was caught, as one example. People wear body armor so they can be sure to shoot everyone else they want to kill before they off themselves, or if they have the chance, in some cases they hope to get away.

Why would the asshat gun nut survivalist who shot himself recently in his bunker do so?

There are plenty of drug cartel killings; overwhelmingly, the majority are in Mexcio, not the U.S. Overwhelmingly, they involve people engaged in the drug trade or some related activity like human trafficking.

So unless you want to claim that J.T. was secretly HELPING the drug cartels and then crosse them, your fantasy isn't plausible.

J.T. Ready was not a good man, he was an evil, hateful, violent individual. Sane, decent people do not stockpile grenades in their homes; nut job extremists who are prone to violence do.

  7. Death,

    First, welcome to Penigma.

Second, as a former US Army Sergeant and owner of firearms, I'm afraid I'll have to just disagree with you slightly on the second amendment hatred thing. I have felt a very long time that the rights of individuals to bear arms meant people, not militias, because without it, there is no ability to form "irregular forces" as theorized by our founders and as codified by the Geneva Convention's 3rd and 4th versions.

J.T. Ready, though, was little and less about the 2nd Amendment. J.T. Ready was a white supremecist. He would routinely refer to his half-hispanic "step-child" as "half-ugly". He made comments about how "Africans" have their own continent, as if all Africans are the same culture and race. By his logic, all Whites have THEIR own continent, namely Europe. Perhaps we should have all returned there and turned the nation over to the native Americans (using his logic)?

The evidence seems to show he shot and killed folks, that he was a deeply disturbed person who advocated for armed opposition to what he saw as an encroachment upon "white's" rights. He didn't accept nor grasp that the US has long been a blend of races, Chinese, Hispanic (Spanish), Native American, Black, just to name a couple, who were in fact here PRIOR to 1850 in very large numbers. Certainly there was a time when whites constituted a larger percentage of our nation's population, but the ONLY changes have been a lower birth rate among the affluent race (whites) than others, and the liberalization of immigration policy since 1990 with respect to allowing foreign workers to fill US roles. Illegal immigration has resulted in 14M illegal immigrants coming to the US, but that's only 3% of the total polulation. Prior to 1900 there were NO limits on imigration, your parents' parents (I suspect) and mine, were immigrants. SO, in the end, Mr. Ready's rants were about not liking non-white immigrants. We (whites) took over this country from a much less numerous native population - a reality he neither wanted to see nor admit to. He instead wanted to blame all of his problems on others, rather than taking those problems as HIS problems. HE thought a gun would make him powerful and safe, HE put on body armor, and HE, according to all apparent evidence, proceeded to start shooting his family. Someone, he or someone else, apparently shot him, wounding him in a way that ultimately was fatal. Mr. Ready, unless he was interfering with drug trafficking, a highly dubious idea, was no more a threat to cartels than YOU are or I am. THere's no evidence to support what you're saying. No one has the obligation to prove what you're saying is wrong, YOU have the obligation to show proof that it's right. This dropped out of the news, a story which the "liberal media" SHOULD have used as a drumbeat against guns, to follow your logic, but it dropped out of the news because a. It was simply an ugly, tragic example of right-wing lunacy gone wild, and b. because the media is mostly owned by big business, and they don't care to get into tiffs with the gun lobby.
