The US verison of the English Civil War has begun

Or really "no kings".

Simple form: The English civil war was between the Royalists and Parliamentarians because the "executive" (King) needed to be reined in by Parliament. It's the reason in an Anglo-American context "no kings" is nonsense.

Anyway, this is long overdue since the US really is a de facto Parliamentary system and the executive should be subservient to it. The French change their republic by rewriting the Constitution. Unfortunately, unlike France, the US needs to have the Constitution amended, since rewriting the thing would be difficult.

But the myth of "checks and balances" is going to be put to the test in the next few years.
