One of the things which most persuaded me to leave (or be left by) the GOP was the realization that they have consistently, horribly, been on the wrong side of history, and that they were becoming worse, not better as they became more extremist.
Their ideology will not change that indictment from history; that ideology does not change that it was conservatives who obstructed fill civil rights for blacks and the end of segregation; that advocates for misogyny; that does so much wrong, post Eisenhower that is a disgrace, a stain of shame on our history.
