The DoJ and Florida, or why extreme conservatives are both stupid and ill-informed

The right wing blogosphere is in its usual hysteria mode over the George Zimmerman trial, never mind those pesky things called facts.

We see these folks calling this trial a 'show trial' asserting that the DoJ has somehow tampered with it, on behalf of Trayvon Martin, in some crazy conspiracy theory that this is the handiwork of President Obama trying to interfere with the courts, against white people.

Because tragically, this is how crazy conservatives think.  They don't need facts, they just go for nuts completely uninhibited by logic, reason - or FACTS.

There was in fact some actions taken in Sanford, Florida by the DoJ; that was because there were legitimate concerns raised about the Sanford PD, based on multiple incidents.  It had nothing to do with the President rigging the outcome of the Zimmerman trial.  This is ridiculous.

In point of fact, the DoJ has had to become involved in other Florida jurisdictions for similar reasons.  Here is an example and explanation of why that kind of involvement happens, in a state like Florida where there is a PATTERN of problems.
