Choke on this, John McCain; you marginalized yourself in 2008. Keep making unwarranted statements about Ambassador Rice, and you will only continue to be discredited and insignificant.
McCain is and has been a scumbag since at least the day after he was born. That people still think he is a decent person or even sane never ceases to amaze me.
Having said that McCain attacking Condi or dissing her works fine for me. ReiKKKwing on ReiKKKwing crime is a great spectator sport.
Sorry, I have been out of the loop living in the real world where Israel has been launching air strikes on Gaza in response to "missiles" that have been launched into Israel from Gaza. I thought the "Rice Affair" was over on October 8th when I read Leslie Gelb's column. Read it ... tell me what is different today than October 8th ... oh yeah, they lost the election ... Gelb's premise -- a presumed complicated intelligence process that is taken at face value permitting people to believe the "intelligence" -- when Rice made her comments, things were still unfolding ... but there is another Rice, who did serve as Secretary of State, who failed to question the data presented concerning Iraq's WMD and who should have said "What if you are wrong and all the other countries intelligence reports are correct?" Instead, Condi Rice talked about "mushroom clouds" ... and she was confirmed by John McCain and all other voting Republican Senators with a tally of 85-13 with Democratic senators denouncing Condi Rice's job performance and truthfulness. News reporting : Most criticism focused on Rice's role planning for war and explaining the threat posed by Saddam Hussein. Some accused her of avoiding accountability for the absence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Others said she seemed unwilling to acknowledge errors in planning or judgment.
"In the end, I could not excuse Dr. Rice's repeated misstatements," Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., said of his vote against Rice.
The key was that Condi Rice got a vote ... McCain and others are threatening to deny a vote ... that is wrong.
BTW, Susan Rice was confirmed to be UN Ambassador by with no negative votes ... her confirmation did include some interesting comments which are more relevant today : News reporting : Ms. Rice herself who brought up Gaza’s humanitarian crisis, noting that the incoming Obama administration was greatly concerned about “the suffering of innocents” and on a broader scale determined to forge ahead with a two-state solution.
“There needs to be a durable cease-fire, but a durable cease-fire has to entail the halt to Hamas rockets against Israel and the Israeli people,” Ms. Rice said. She said those would include effective measures to control weapons smuggling into Gaza and an effective means to control the border.
Once the fighting ended, she said, “We need to mount a swift and robust effort to attend to the dire humanitarian needs inside Gaza.”
Hmmm ... anything different today than when Susan Rice testified ? If Senator McCain has a beef with Susan Rice and the Obama Administration, he should be focused on the failure to deal with the Gaza situation (but that is something that no American President has been able to solve.) McCain's just angry because Amb. Stevens was a personal friend.
