Tea Party THEN, Tea Party NOW; the more things change, the more they stay the same

My thanks to my co-blogger Laci for this, originally posted on Mikeb302000.

I would call the attention of our readers to the flag behind Thom Hartmann; it is the post 1801 flag, which our readers would know if they read my Flag Day post of June 14th.

  1. A former roommate of mine purchased the Giddings Tavern (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Giddings_Tavern_Exeter_New_Hampshire.jpg) sometime during the 1990's and has been restoring it ever since (he's a post&beam framer, conventional builder and cabinet maker--he also gardens, raises bees, hikes, bikes, roller blades and watches LOTS of sports on teh teevee). I lived in the house for about 9 months back in 2006 before moving to upstate NY.

Local history says that the Giddings Tavern was the scene of some of the planning for "The Mast Tree Riot of 1734" during the period when the British Navy was THE power on the high seas and the Eastern White Pines of the NH seacoast were designated as "Mast Trees" for use in building British warships.
