This is why the right wing notion of small government is wrong

Party of patriots, party of values, my ass.

Will John Boehner survive as speaker of the house? Will the Republican party survive this failure of government on top of their other failures in government - their culture wars, their many vacations, their gridlock obstructionist tactics?  Or will they lose themselves even more voter support, despite their attempts at rampant and illegal voter suppression and election tampering?

  1. I think Rep. Boner is done, no matter what happens with the Sandy Relief bill.

As for people like Christy and Rep. Peter King (KBB*/NY) wailing about Boner's screwing them and their respective states--they were all fine with him doing exactly what he's doing now since Jan. 23, 2009, being a wrecker to advance the interests of the 1%ers, bigots and theocrats.

  2. If you haven't seen the Christie news conference, it is candor at candor's best. He chided Republicans but also blasted NJ State Democrats for the same thing ... failure to vote without giving a valid reason.

IMO, Boehner is getting the blame, yet he is actually taking one for the team.
Remember John Kline refused to support the I-35 Bridge Reconstruction funding because there was no offset ... Eric Cantor opposed funding for earthquake damage in his district ... and they held up disaster relief for Joplin MO because of no offsets. Is there any reason to believe that this would have been approved.

In this incident, Boehner recognized that his Party would not approve it, and pulled it ... versus what he did with the Farm Bill which he personally opposes ... refusing to allow it to come to a floor vote even though it had a strong Republican-buy-in and crafted by House Republicans. So instead of allowing a vote for reform and deficit reduction, Boehner votes for another extension ... the winner is his supporters like Kraft Foods which did not like the potential of price increases in dairy products nor the reduction in food stamps since they produce products that consumers using food stamps buy. The other winner besides Kraft Foods, Dean Foods, etc is asparagus producers who got another payment for retribution from the War on Drugs.
