Freedom = PUBLIC Libraries

One of the worst ideas, one of the most freedom DESTROYING ideas ever promoted by the right wing was privatizing libraries. Libraries are as much or MORE the foundation and defense of our freedom than any military we overspend to fund.

EVERY area that was public that has been privatized has been an absolute disaster, that has not saved money and has not improved or maintained service levels.  This is true of military service support with independent contractors like Haliburton which has swindled this country, and been responsible for the deaths of our soldiers through substandard plumbing of showers where they were electrocuted to death; this is true of the private prison industry, which treats people like a third world country; this is true of private election services, which have been shown to be both corrupt and inefficient; this is true of security 'private armies' like Blackwater / Xie; this is true of privatizing schools, far too many of which are substandard performing; this is true of every area where privatizing has promised greater efficiency and cost control without a decrease in services, but has not delivered it.

Now the right wing nuts have begun to privatize libraries, and are trying to privatize the post office.

They have an idea that private enterprise is always more efficient than the public sector providing the same or similar services.  It is an idea which is not true, not real, not factual; but having grabbed the idea in a death grip, and internalized it into ideology, any objective metric that shows their idea is wrong is ignored, denied, and rejected.  THIS is the error of the right wing ideology.  It is founded on flawed and false ideas, their theories translated into policy does not work in practice.  Freedom dies because of it, despite their efforts to wear out the word; their version of freedom contradicts its real meaning.
