Crazy GOP, Lying GOP

A Republican member of Congress has invited Ted Nugent to the state of the union speech.

There chosen tactic is polarization through deliberate lies intended to create fear. It is the essence of propaganda designed to engage strong emotions, in order to prevent critical thinking.

No one would ever equate Ted Nugent, board member of the NRA, who has threatened the life of the President, as well as former Sec. of State Clinton, with being a thoughtful or factual human being. Nugent is a draft dodger, criminal hunter with multiple violations, and accused pedophile, and advocate FOR gun violence and insurrection.

That's the GOP idea of a patriot, of 'family values'. It does not meet the definition found in any dictionary, or any reasonable use of the words.

  1. I think you mean "Their chosen tactic..." in the second sentence.

My view on this is simply this, if Nugent shows and makes an ass of himself, he will have embarrassed the Republican Party, the Tea Party types, the jerks who back Nugent and the person who invited him. Whether THEY feel embarrassed themselves won't matter.

I'm hopeful IF he attends he makes an ass of himself. He's got his chance to wag his finger in Obama's face, and he's just about stupid enough to try so PLEASE Ted, go on, do it!

It will immesurably hurt the Tea Partiers (who are already on the skids, fyi). It will also embarrass the Republicans overall (again), just when they are trying to get their feet under them.

  2. That's just pitiful. I can't think of a more divisive, violent person to bring to the event. Hell, even LaPierre would be a less bad choice (by a slim margin) since he hasn't made threats of overt violence against the President. Clearly this Congressman isn't looking for favors from any Dem, and wants only to make a circus of his position.

  3. I am shocked that Nugent received the clearance to attend.

    1. I'm not. Obama isn't afraid of Nugent; you can bet he isn't getting into Congress with one of his guns though.

The right likes to pretend people are afraid of them. Obama goes skeet shooting; I and my co-bloggers are firearms proficient, and not the slightest bit afraid of firearms.

We have 83 people a day who are dying from firearm violence; very few of those are killed by law enforcement. Law enforcement has to prove that shooting was necessary, the course of last resort. Private citizens do not to the same degree, especially not in shoot first states. NO ONE should shoot except as a last resort.

We are losing 10 times the number annually of the number of people killed at the World Trade Center. That number is unacceptable. An additional estimated three times the number of fatalities who are wounded every year, who survive because either the injuries are not life threatening, or the person is saved because of the advances made in battlefield medicine.

The conduct of too many of the gun nuts, from Jimmy Lee Dykes to EX LAPD cop Chris Dorner to the various shooters who have been responsible for the majority of other shootings, is unacceptable. As I write this, Dorner appears to have shot two more members of Law Enforcement, one of them a possible fatality. We have far higher law enforcement casualties than other similarly developed countries with stricter gun control.

While the media are talking about fears that Dorner might escape the cabin where he has holed up, I would be very surprised if there were not drones in the air surveilling (literally) that cabin and surrounding area, that can easily track him once it gets dark, should Dorner try to leave.

What Congressman Stockman doesn't realize is that Texas, the state he represents is now distinctly purple, and steadily turning blue. His conduct, as has been so often the case, is likely to result in his eventual political suicide, not firearm suicide. The overwhelming majority of the people of this country are as fed up as I am.

People who make threatening statements like Nugent, like Karl Schneider, about shooting people should not have the rights to own firearms. They are making it clear that they are not intending to use their firearms appropriately or for self defense against criminals, they are intending to harm fellow Americans in disregard for the law.

Further, the CDC just released stats showing that the increase in injuries, both fatal and non-fatal, from accidental firearm discharges has gone up 40%. THAT is why we should not allow widespread open carry. Daily there are reports of people handling firearms negligently that injure or kill other people, like the woman who had her firearm fall out of her pocket, which discharged when it hit the floor, gut shooting her husband and terrorizing the customers of their local McDonald's.

These are daily occurrences. Enough already. Take away this woman's firearms, take away her right to own or carry firearms, and from the unsafe people like her, and ban firearms from places like McDonald's, except for law enforcement.

Of course, the problem is that like bad drivers who refuse to admit they are bad drivers, in spite of having lots of car accidents, those who have gun accidents or who just engage in unsafe practices almost never acknowledge they are not safe gun owners or handlers until someone takes them away from them over their protests. But by then someone has usually been hurt, either the gun owner, or some innocent bystander, like this guy:

The gunners call it fear on the part of those who support gun control. It is not fear; it is disgust.
And no one is more disgusting than the draft dodging shit-himself-for-a-week pedophile Nugent.
